Is MailerLite legit? What its terms and policies show
Yes: MailerLite publishes Terms of Use, last updated September 22, 2026, and a help center that say how new accounts are reviewed, who you may email, when refunds are owed and how to cancel.
| Question | What MailerLite states |
|---|---|
| Account approval | Complete your profile, then request approval; a suspicious account may be disapproved. |
| Who you can email | Consented lists only; purchased lists, scraped addresses and lists older than two years are banned. |
| Refunds | Owed only if MailerLite ends service without cause; otherwise at its discretion. |
| Canceling | Any time without penalty; you keep the plan until it expires. |
| Business use | Commercial use only; personal or household use is not allowed. |
The Free plan is $0 a month, and Comfort is $12 a month, billed monthly, at 500 subscribers. The MailerLite review lists every plan.

Start a 14-day MailerLite trial →Account approval before your first campaign
A new account has two steps before it can send: complete your profile, then request approval. Approval comes by email; if something looks suspicious, a disapproval email may follow. MailerLite may also review a subscriber list or past campaign performance before approving a purchased limit.
MailerLite's Terms of Use say a new account must complete a profile and request approval before it is validated, but its help article on starting an account describes no approval request, so expect a review and prepare identity, consent and list-source evidence. MailerLite does not say what the review checks or how long it takes, so leave time before your first send.
Refunds, cancellation and price changes
MailerLite gives no money-back guarantee. A refund is owed only if MailerLite ends the service without cause, and unused or partly used plans are not refunded. In other cases it may refund at its own discretion, within 30 days of the last transaction.
Cancel under Account settings, then Plan and billing. You keep the plan until it expires and are not charged again, and then the account drops to Free. An account above 250 active subscribers must be cut back before the downgrade works.
MailerLite may change prices with at least 14 calendar days' notice, and renewals run at the then-current price. It may also change plan limits, and it did on June 16, 2026, when the Free plan went from 500 to 250 active subscribers. See MailerLite pricing and the MailerLite free plan guide for today's figures.
Who MailerLite is not for
- Personal or household use. The Terms of Use allow commercial use only; an account that breaks this can be terminated.
- Purchased, scraped or old lists. MailerLite's help center bans them and limits sending to people who consented.
- Anyone who needs a refund guarantee. MailerLite refunds only in the cases above.
If you want a money-back guarantee
Constant Contact is the alternative: its pricing page backs every new plan with a 30-day money-back guarantee, a full refund if you cancel within 30 days of signing up, with terms. Lite is listed as "starting at $12/month", set by contacts and email sends, with no free plan.
MailerLite's way to look first is a 14-day trial of premium features that takes no credit card. It is limited to 250 subscribers and 2,500 emails, and the account reverts to Free when it ends.
Pick MailerLite if you email people who agreed to hear from you and can accept these refund terms. Pick Constant Contact if a guarantee matters more.
