Mailchimp's free plan covers under 250 contacts and sends up to 500 emails a month or 250 a day. Kit's Free plan holds up to 10,000 subscribers, though its visual automations start on Creator. beehiiv's Free plan holds up to 2,500 subscribers with unlimited sends. Paying by sends instead of contacts: Brevo

Brevo prices by emails sent, not by contacts. Starter is $9 a month, billed monthly, starting at 5,000 emails a month. Brevo suits a sender who wants the bill to follow email volume rather than list size.

Moving a Mailchimp list to MailerLite

MailerLite built its own Mailchimp importer, and its listing says it is free to use. Take a small business moving 3,000 contacts from Mailchimp with its groups, fields and consent records intact. The business connects Mailchimp, picks its lists, maps fields and chooses how groups are set up. MailerLite's help says each Mailchimp list and tag becomes a group, or everyone can go into one group, and a subscriber in several groups counts once toward the plan.

For consent records, MailerLite's help says to map Mailchimp's opt-in IP column into a custom field, so proof of consent comes along. Only simple, field-based segments are recreated; behavioral, e-commerce and activity-based segments are not. The import is one way, and it ends with a report and an option to undo.

At 3,000 subscribers, MailerLite's pricing page rounds up to its 5,000 tier, where Comfort is $49 a month, billed monthly. Mailchimp's 2,501 to 5,000 band is $75 for Essentials and $100 for Standard, also billed monthly. Omnisend's Standard plan is $20 a month, billed monthly, at 501 to 1,000 contacts, and its pricing page lists a 5-day free migration. Constant Contact's Lite plan starts at $12 a month, billed monthly, with the price set by contacts and email sends. It has no free plan, and each new plan carries a 30-day money-back guarantee.
