MailerLite free plan: limits, the 14-day trial and upgrades

Last reviewed October 6, 2026

Quick answerMailerLite Free costs nothing for up to 250 subscribers and 2,500 emails a month, enough for a small newsletter with 3 automations. If your list is larger, Kit (formerly ConvertKit) is free up to 10,000.

MailerLite free plan: what you get for $0

MailerLite has a free plan: Free costs $0 a month for up to 250 active subscribers and 2,500 emails a month, with 2 seats. MailerLite's free plan page says there are no time limits, but the limits changed on June 16, 2026: Free was cut from 500 subscribers and 12,000 emails and gained a second seat, so older guides with those figures are out of date.

The 14-day trial of premium features, and what it leaves out

MailerLite's pricing page says to try everything free for 14 days, while its help center says the trial leaves out seven paid features, including unlimited sending, custom domains and logo removal, so we say "premium features" and never "everything".

Signing up also starts a 14-day trial of premium features with no credit card required, and the account returns to Free when it ends. The trial is separate from the Free plan: it covers up to 250 subscribers and 2,500 emails, includes live chat for the first 14 days, and deletes nothing at the end.

What happens past 250 subscribers on the Free plan

Past 250 active subscribers, MailerLite pauses sending campaigns, running automations and adding subscribers by hand, API or integrations until you upgrade or trim the list. Signup forms and landing pages keep collecting.

MailerLite's pricing FAQ says the monthly email allowance resets on the billing date, while its billing article says a Free account resets on the day it was registered, so on Free count 2,500 emails from the registration date.

Free vs paid: when Comfort at $12 a month, billed monthly, for 500 subscribers is worth it

Comfort adds logo removal, 5,000 emails a month, 3 seats and 50 automations. It is $12 a month, billed monthly, at 500 subscribers, or $10.80 a month, billed yearly. Paid newsletters and recurring subscriptions need Comfort or Power; the MailerLite review covers both plans.

A weekly newsletter to 900 subscribers is already past Free's 250, so it needs a paid tier or another free plan: 900 prices at the 1,000 tier, where Comfort is $19 a month, billed monthly, with 10,000 emails a month. Every tier is in MailerLite pricing.

Free plans elsewhere: Kit, Brevo and Mailchimp

Kit (formerly ConvertKit) has a free plan for up to 10,000 subscribers, with visual automations on its paid plans. Brevo's free plan sends up to 300 emails a day once an account is approved for sending. Mailchimp's free plan is for lists under 250 contacts, with sends capped at 500 a month or 250 a day.

Pick MailerLite Free for a business newsletter of up to 250 subscribers that needs 3 automations and a landing page, and Kit for a larger free list. The free email marketing software list compares more options.
