MailerLite RSS to email: campaigns sent from a feed

An RSS campaign turns new posts from your site's feed into a scheduled email; it needs Comfort or Power.

Quick answerMailerLite RSS campaigns, a Comfort and Power feature, email your newest posts daily, weekly or monthly, and send only when the feed has a new post, which MailerLite checks five minutes before each send.

What you need first

RSS campaigns are a paid feature on Comfort and Power. You need a public feed address that starts with https://; on most sites, WordPress included, adding /feed to the domain gives it. Each RSS campaign uses one feed.

Set up an RSS campaign

  1. Go to Campaigns, click Create campaign and choose RSS campaign.
  2. Enter the subject and sender details, then the feed address under RSS settings.
  3. Choose a daily, weekly or monthly schedule.
  4. Add the email address that should get a notice after each RSS campaign goes out.
  5. Design the email.

How MailerLite decides what to send

MailerLite checks and processes the feed five minutes before each scheduled send. After the first send, a campaign goes out only if a new post has been published; a post counts as new by the feed's GUID or, without one, by a changed link. Editing an old post on your site does not send it again.

Images and formatting

You can show excerpts with featured images, titles with images, or full posts. Text from the feed cannot be reformatted in an RSS campaign; for that, use a regular campaign with RSS blocks. For WordPress, MailerLite recommends its Featured Image in RSS Feed plugin.

Why an RSS campaign did not send

  • No new post since the last send.
  • A broken, private or protected feed address.
  • A feed that was unavailable at send time, or wrong timestamps in it.
  • An expired paid plan, which stops the campaign.

A campaign canceled from the Outbox and rescheduled can resend recent posts, because MailerLite can no longer compare what was already sent.

After launch

Check the first sends in the campaign reports. RSS campaigns stop if the account drops to Free, which happens when a paid plan lapses or a trial ends: they are a paid feature, and new accounts can try them during the 14-day trial.
