MailerLite export subscribers: back up data before a change

Export subscribers, groups, segments and reports before a migration or a bulk change.

Last reviewed October 6, 2026

Quick answerMailerLite exports subscribers as a CSV file by status, with their groups if you add that column, and campaign and automation lists export separately; only account administrators can export.

What you can export

Subscribers export from the Subscribers page as a CSV file or a CSV for Excel. You can export all of them or one status at a time: active, unconfirmed, unsubscribed, bounced, or those who sent spam complaints. Only account administrators can export.

Export subscribers step by step

  1. Open Subscribers and pick the status or list you want.
  2. Select the subscribers, or all of them with the arrow next to the Subscriber column.
  3. Click Set columns and choose every field to keep, including Groups.
  4. Click Actions and choose the export type.

The export holds only the columns visible at that moment, so set the columns first. A segment exports from its own page: open it with View segment and click Export.

Reports and automation lists

Campaign reports download as a CSV from the report's More menu. A campaign's Subscriber activity tab exports who opened, clicked, bounced, unsubscribed or complained, and an automation's Activity tab exports who completed it, who is queued and who was canceled.

Before a migration or bulk edit

Export every status, not only active subscribers, so unsubscribes and bounces travel with the list and are not mailed again elsewhere. Keep the file with a note of its date and columns.

What an export does not cover

The subscriber export is a list of people and the columns you chose; it does not carry your automations, forms or campaign designs, which are set up again on another platform. Deleting a group later removes only the group, not the subscribers in it.

After the change

If you cancel a paid plan, the account drops to Free at the end of the billing cycle and keeps its data, but extra users are removed and a list over 250 active subscribers must be cut before the downgrade works. Nothing is deleted when the 14-day trial ends: the account returns to the Free plan with its data.

Plans are priced by subscriber count and billing period, so check the cost at your list size before you change plans or export a list.
